Chinese Missile Scientist's Breakthrough Powered Jet Kill, State Media Reveals

A recent Chinese government announcement has confirmed a key combat success and the scientist behind it. China's defence technology agency listed its top achievements for 2025. The list included the J-10CE fighter jet and its PL-15 missile. This marks China's first official confirmation that the jet has seen battle. Last May, Pakistan's air force used Chinese-made J-10CE jets. They were armed with PL-15E missiles, an export version. These weapons were credited with shooting down an Indian Rafale fighter. The agency specifically named scientist Feng Yujie for a breakthrough. Her work significantly increased the range of the PL-15 missile. This longer range is considered a major factor in the jet's combat victory. The announcement highlights China's push for self-reliance in advanced military technology.
