Balkan Leaders Gather in Istanbul for Critical Peace Talks
Foreign ministers from across the Balkans met in Istanbul on Tuesday for a high-level diplomatic summit. The talks are part of the Balkans Peace Platform, an initiative led by Türkiye. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan hosted the meeting. He held private, one-on-one discussions with the top diplomats from Montenegro, Serbia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, and Albania. The Platform aims to reduce regional tensions and strengthen cooperation. It provides a neutral space for dialogue on shared challenges. This was the group's second meeting of foreign ministers. The first was held in Ankara last year. Observers note the inclusion of all regional states is a significant diplomatic effort. No final statement was released after the closed-door meetings. The discussions are seen as a continuing process to build stability in the Balkan region.
