Harvard University professor Larry Summers has taken a sudden leave of absence. This decision follows the public release of emails that show his continued contact with the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Summers, a former U.S. Treasury Secretary, stepped down from his teaching duties on Wednesday. The released correspondence reveals he maintained a friendly relationship with Epstein after the financier's initial sex crime conviction in 2008.
Harvard has not announced a date for Summers' return. The university has faced ongoing scrutiny over its past connections to Epstein.
