Judge Retires After Stalking Order Granted to Attorney

A Nevada judge has retired following a court's decision to grant a protective order against her. The order was requested by an attorney whom the judge was accused of stalking. The judge announced her immediate retirement from the Clark County District Court. This came just days after a different court approved the protective order for the lawyer. The attorney had filed for the order in early October. He alleged a pattern of harassment, including unwanted messages and confrontations. Judges can be subject to protective orders, known as restraining orders, just like any other citizen. These court orders legally require one person to stay away from another. The Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline had already filed formal misconduct charges against the judge prior to this ruling. Her retirement ends the judicial discipline process.
