An alarm forced the suspension of the world's largest nuclear power plant in Japan on Thursday. It had just restarted a day earlier after being shut down for 14 years.
The operator of the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa plant says it does not know when operations can resume. The problem occurred during the plant's start-up process.
The plant was closed following the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster. It received final approval from Japan's nuclear regulator to restart this week.
The restart was a major part of Japan's plan to return to nuclear power generation.
