Severe winter storms have killed at least 11 people across Afghanistan, according to local reports. The extreme weather has also cut off entire provinces from the capital.
Heavy snowfall, rain, and strong winds forced the temporary closure of major highways and roads. This has left some regions completely isolated, disrupting travel and supply lines.
The fatalities resulted from weather-related incidents, including vehicle accidents and exposure. Rescue efforts are ongoing, but are being hampered by the continued difficult conditions.
Authorities have advised citizens to avoid non-essential travel until the severe weather subsides and road clearance operations are complete.
