Poland is sending 400 power generators from its state reserves to Ukraine's capital, Kyiv. This urgent aid comes as the city faces its worst heating and electricity crisis since Russia's full-scale invasion began.
The generators are a direct response to targeted Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. These strikes have caused widespread blackouts during freezing winter temperatures.
Polish government spokesman Piotr Müller confirmed the delivery. He stated the equipment will help provide essential power to hospitals, water supply systems, and residential buildings.
This move reinforces Poland's role as a key supporter of Ukraine. The neighboring country has been a major transit point for Western military and humanitarian aid since February 2022.
The generators are expected to help stabilize Kyiv's critical energy grid and protect civilians from the severe winter cold.
