Police are searching for a gunman after a shooting in a small Australian town left three people dead and one wounded.
The incident occurred Thursday afternoon in Lake Cargelligo, a community of roughly 1,500 people. Emergency services responded to two locations shortly after 4 p.m.
Assistant Police Commissioner Andy Holland said two couples were shot at the separate sites within minutes. Both women and one man died at the scenes. The surviving man was flown to a hospital in serious but stable condition.
A major police operation is underway to locate the suspect.
