Intense fighting has killed more than ten people in a village in southern Somalia.
The clash erupted in the Yaaq Bariweyne area of Lower Shabelle region. Somali government forces and troops from the regional South West State fought against an armed group.
Local sources report the targeted group had been previously sentenced by a military court. The exact charges are unclear.
The fighting highlights ongoing security challenges in parts of Somalia outside the capital, Mogadishu.
