European Union member states have approved a one-year postponement for the EU's anti-deforestation regulation. The new enforcement date is now December 30, 2025. Germany and Austria, both vocal critics of the law, requested the delay. In response, the EU countries have also added a review clause. This clause schedules a formal reassessment of the regulation for April 2026. The review will occur even before the law officially takes effect.
