A high-speed passenger train derailed near Barcelona on Friday, injuring at least 155 people in Spain's most serious rail accident in over a decade.
Emergency services rushed to the scene outside the city of Montcada i Reixac. Four carriages left the tracks around 5:45 p.m. local time. Rescue workers used cranes to stabilize the train and evacuate passengers.
Officials confirmed one person is in critical condition. Most injuries, however, are reported as minor. No fatalities have been reported.
The cause of the derailment is not yet known. Spanish rail authority Renfe and infrastructure manager Adif have opened a formal investigation.
The train was traveling from Barcelona to Zaragoza on a high-speed line. Service on several major routes has been suspended.
