A second man has died within two weeks at a U.S. immigration detention center in Texas. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, known as ICE, announced the death on Monday.
Victor Manuel Diaz, a 36-year-old from Nicaragua, was found unconscious in his room on January 14. The incident occurred at the Camp East Montana detention facility in El Paso.
ICE stated that staff performed emergency procedures. Diaz was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The cause of death is under review. This follows another death at a different Texas detention facility just two weeks prior.
The news comes as the U.S. Supreme Court prepares to issue more rulings. One highly anticipated decision could affect the legality of tariffs imposed by former President Donald Trump.
