Luke Donald is moving closer to a historic third term as Europe's Ryder Cup captain. He will meet with European Tour executives this week in Dubai to discuss the 2027 event at Adare Manor in Ireland.
No official decision is expected immediately. However, momentum is building for Donald to continue after leading Europe to victory in 2023 and a successful title defense in 2025.
The former world number one has been considering his future since Europe retained the trophy last September. He is playing in this week's Dubai Desert Classic.
Team member Shane Lowry has publicly backed Donald, stating, "I think it’s Luke’s if he wants it." A key question is the role of potential captain Justin Rose, who is still expected to play competitively.
The next Ryder Cup will be held at Adare Manor in 2027.
