The United Nations has condemned Israel for what it calls an "unprecedented attack." On Tuesday, Israeli forces began demolishing buildings at a UN agency's headquarters in East Jerusalem.
The agency, known as UNRWA, provides aid to Palestinian refugees. It stated the demolition is "a serious violation of international law."
Israel disputes this. Authorities said the seizure and demolition of the compound followed Israeli law and international law.
The site served as the UNRWA headquarters for operations in East Jerusalem. The reason for the demolition was not immediately detailed by Israeli officials.
