U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has stated that an immigrant found dead last week in a Texas detention center committed suicide.
The death occurred at the El Paso Processing Center. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
ICE provided no further details about the individual. The agency says it is reviewing the circumstances of the death.
All deaths in ICE custody must be reported to relevant oversight bodies.
