The violent conflict in Sudan is placing two groups in extreme danger: women and humanitarian aid workers.
Fighting between the Sudanese military and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has created a nationwide crisis. Experts report that women and girls now face a high risk of gender-based violence. Aid workers, who provide life-saving food and medical care, are also being directly attacked.

The war, which began in April 2023, has killed thousands and displaced over eight million people. The targeting of civilians and those trying to help them signals a deepening of the crisis.
