Hong Kong Expands Police Drone Patrols to Peak, Islands
Hong Kong police will deploy drone patrols across all major regions starting Friday. The expansion includes popular areas like The Peak, Cheung Chau, and Lamma Island. The drones will be used for crime prevention, crowd control, and traffic monitoring. This new phase joins existing drone operations in Heung Yuen Wai and Kowloon West. Superintendent Tango Ko Chung-ying said the goal is to further test the drones' capabilities. "Besides a more complex terrain, we will also be encountering more buildings and people," he stated. The move significantly widens the police force's aerial surveillance program. Authorities aim to enhance operational efficiency and public safety with the technology.
