The Syrian Arab Army has begun a military operation moving from Tal Abyad toward the surrounding Raqqa countryside. This area was previously occupied by the YPG/SDF, which Turkey and Syria designate as a terrorist group.
The advance follows a major local uprising within Tal Abyad. Tribal forces and residents revolted against the YPG/SDF, successfully expelling the group from the city.
The operation marks a significant shift in control of this strategic border region. The Syrian Army is now pushing into areas the YPG/SDF held for years.
