A federal judge has ruled that U.S. immigration officials wrongly deported a college student and must bring her back.
The student, Any Lucia López Belloza of Honduras, was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents at Boston's Logan Airport in January. She was then deported, despite being a lawful student at Babson College in Massachusetts.
On Friday, a judge called the deportation a mistake. The ruling gives the Trump administration three weeks to fix the error and return López Belloza to the United States.
The case highlights ongoing tensions over U.S. immigration enforcement. Government lawyers argued the arrest was legal, but the judge found that officials violated their own rules.
