Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has called for the punishment of those involved in recent mass demonstrations.
Speaking on Saturday, Khamenei labeled the protesters "seditionists." His statement comes as the widespread protests, which faced a severe state crackdown, appear to be subsiding.
Rights groups estimate that thousands have been killed in the government's response to the unrest.
Khamenei also accused the United States of instigating violence during the protests. He did not provide evidence for the claim.
