The UK has accused a Russian spy ship of directing lasers at British surveillance aircraft. Defence Secretary John Healey stated the vessel, the Yantar, is operating near UK territorial waters.
According to Healey, the ship is loitering off the northern coast of Scotland. The Yantar is specially designed for intelligence gathering and mapping undersea cables.
The Defence Secretary issued a direct warning, stating Britain is "ready" to respond. He confirmed that the military has prepared options if the Russian ship moves further south.
