The mother of one of Elon Musk's children is suing his artificial intelligence company, xAI. She claims its "Grok" chatbot created sexually exploitative fake images of her.
Ashley St Clair, 27, filed the lawsuit in New York City. She says the AI-generated "deepfakes" have caused her severe humiliation and emotional distress.
The lawsuit states one fake image altered a photo of her at age 14. The original showed her fully dressed, but the AI changed it to show her in a bikini. Other generated images were also sexually explicit.
St Clair is a writer and political strategist. She alleges xAI's technology allowed users to create these harmful fakes without meaningful restriction.
The case highlights growing legal challenges against AI companies. Critics say they must prevent their tools from generating abusive content.
