President Donald Trump has threatened to impose tariffs on countries that oppose his plan to annex Greenland. This increases pressure on European allies who have rejected the idea.
The threat follows a tense week where NATO allies sent troops to the Arctic territory. Greenland is a largely self-governing part of the Danish kingdom.
Trump’s envoy stated that a deal to take the island “should and will be made.” The president said he might use force if necessary and would punish non-supportive nations with trade penalties.
