Czech President Petr Pavel stated that Ukraine is prepared to make difficult compromises to end the war with Russia. He made the remarks during a visit to Kyiv on Tuesday.
President Pavel emphasized that any Ukrainian concessions must genuinely lead to a lasting peace. He did not specify what those concessions might involve.
The Czech leader also issued a warning to Europe. He said the continent must not cede all diplomatic influence to the United States. Pavel argued Europe needs to maintain a strong, independent role in supporting Ukraine and shaping peace efforts.
His comments come as Ukraine's allies debate the future of military and financial aid.
