Former US President Donald Trump has defended Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman regarding the 2018 death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Trump made the comments on November 18.
Khashoggi, a critic of the Saudi government, was killed inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. A US intelligence report concluded that the crown prince approved the operation to capture or kill the journalist.
Trump's defense directly contradicts the official US intelligence assessment. He did not provide new evidence to support his position.
