China Launches Satellites from Mobile Sea Platform
China has successfully launched a group of new satellites from a platform in the Yellow Sea. A commercial CERES-1 rocket carried the satellites into orbit on Tuesday. The launch did not use a traditional land-based spaceport. Instead, the rocket blasted off from a mobile sea platform. This method offers flexibility in launch timing and trajectory. The rocket deployed four satellites. They belong to the Tianqi constellation, a network designed for "Internet of Things" (IoT) data collection. IoT refers to everyday objects connected to the internet. The Tianqi satellites will gather and transmit small amounts of data from remote sensors on Earth. This can include information from agriculture, shipping, and environmental equipment. The CERES-1 rocket is operated by a private Chinese company, Galactic Energy. This marks the rocket's seventh consecutive successful flight. The mission highlights the growing role of China's commercial space sector.
