The director of Madrid's Prado Museum says it has reached its limit after a record 3.5 million visits in 2025. Plans are now being made to prevent overcrowding. Miguel Falomir, the museum's chief, stated the Prado does not need more visitors. He wants to avoid the intense crowding seen at Paris's Louvre Museum. The goal is to stop the Prado from becoming, in his words, "like the Metro at rush hour." Last year, 3,513,402 people visited the Prado. This broke previous records and was over 56,000 more than in 2024. Over the last ten years, visitor numbers have grown by more than 816,000. The museum houses famous works like Velázquez's "Las Meninas" and Hieronymus Bosch's "The Garden of Earthly Delights." The new plans aim to protect the art and the visitor experience as popularity continues to rise.
