The Kremlin warned Ukraine on Thursday that its chance to negotiate an end to the war is disappearing. The statement comes as a severe winter crisis deepens following Russian attacks on energy infrastructure.
In Kyiv, thousands of people are without heating in temperatures of -12°C (10°F). This is a result of sustained waves of strikes on Ukraine's power grid.
Moscow has not abandoned its goal of seizing the remaining territory in eastern Ukraine. The warning arrives just before the fourth anniversary of Russia's offensive, the largest conflict in Europe since World War II.
A Kremlin spokesman stated, "The situation is worsening for them." He claimed that current conditions make a future peace agreement less favorable for Ukraine than terms previously discussed.
