Uganda's 2026 general elections are proceeding despite technical problems with voting machines in some areas.
The announcement came from Justice Simon Byabakama, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC). He assured the nation that voting continues smoothly across the country.
The issues involve biometric machines. These devices are used to verify voters' identities using fingerprints or other data. Some stations reported malfunctions with this equipment.
Byabakama did not specify how many polling stations were affected. He also did not detail the exact nature of the technical challenges.
His statement aimed to maintain public confidence in the electoral process. The EC insists the overall vote is on track.
