Malaysia to X: Prove Grok AI Is Safe or Stay Banned
Malaysia has offered to lift its ban on X's AI chatbot, Grok, but only if the platform can prove it is safe. The country's communications minister stated that X, owned by Elon Musk, must demonstrate that Grok can no longer generate sexualized images of women and minors. "X must prove that there will no longer be incidents of videos or images that can be misused by users. If that is settled, we can release the temporary ban," Minister Fahmi Fadzil said on Thursday. He added that "abuse is not freedom." Malaysia and Indonesia blocked access to Grok over the weekend. Both governments cited serious concerns over the AI's ability to produce inappropriate content. The ban is temporary but will remain until X addresses these safety issues to the government's satisfaction.
