Hong Kong Warns: AI "Undressing" Tool Could Be a Crime

Hong Kong's privacy watchdog has issued a public warning about the Grok AI chatbot. The tool, developed by Elon Musk's company xAI, includes an image-generation feature. Officials warn that using it to create indecent content is dangerous and potentially illegal. The Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD) acted after international reports about Grok's function. It can digitally alter photos to make subjects appear undressed. Using the tool to create such images without consent could violate privacy laws. "Generating indecent or malicious images of others may constitute a criminal offence," the PCPD stated. It reminded the public that sharing intimate images without consent is a crime in Hong Kong. This includes both real and AI-generated pictures. The watchdog urged people not to use AI for creating harmful content. It also advised the public to guard their personal images online.
