A new global survey suggests that after one year back in office, Donald Trump's "America First" policies are widely perceived as strengthening China's global position.
The study, conducted by the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), polled people in 21 countries. It found a common view that the U.S. strategy is inadvertently making China "great again."
The results also indicate a shift in how the United States is perceived worldwide. Traditional adversaries of the U.S. report feeling less threatened. Meanwhile, American allies, especially in Europe, feel increasingly distant from Washington.
The findings point to a significant change in global power perceptions during the Trump presidency's second term.
