The United States has begun moving some military and intelligence personnel out of Qatar, according to officials. The relocation comes as regional tensions with Iran remain high.
The personnel are being transferred to other locations within the Middle East. Officials state this is a precautionary measure and not a withdrawal from the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest U.S. military facility in the region.
The move is seen as an effort to reduce potential vulnerabilities. Qatar hosts not only the U.S. base but also senior leaders of Hamas, the Palestinian political and militant group.
In a separate development, the U.S. and Denmark have clashed publicly over Greenland. A senior U.S. diplomat postponed a meeting after criticizing Greenland’s potential to allow Chinese investment in critical minerals. Denmark called the remarks "unacceptable."
These events mark a tense close to Wednesday's diplomatic engagements.
