The Trump administration has suddenly canceled up to $1.9 billion in federal grants for substance use and mental health services. The funding ends immediately.
The cuts affect up to 2,800 organizations. These groups serve thousands of Americans seeking help and in recovery. Providers say patient care will be disrupted right away.
“It feels like Armageddon for everyone on the frontlines,” said Ryan Hampton of Mobilize Recovery, a national advocacy group. He warned the decision could have severe consequences.
