Jim McBride, the songwriter who helped return country music to its honky-tonk roots, has died at age 78.
He was best known for his decades-long partnership with superstar Alan Jackson. Together, they crafted Jackson's signature hit, "Chattahoochee." The 1993 song became an anthem celebrating small-town life and outdoor fun.
McBride's songwriting focused on relatable stories and traditional country sounds. This style countered the pop-influenced trends of the time. His work with Jackson was central to this musical shift.
