Impeachment Push: 70 Lawmakers Move Against Homeland Security Chief

A group of 70 Democratic lawmakers in the U.S. House of Representatives is attempting to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
The effort, led by Congresswoman Robin Kelly, accuses Noem of obstruction of Congress. The charge relates to her refusal to provide documents about a recent deadly shooting in Minneapolis. The documents concern the death of Renee Nicole Good.
The impeachment articles now go to the House Judiciary Committee. For the process to move forward, the Republican-controlled committee must review and advance them. This makes their approval unlikely at this stage.
An impeachment in the House would lead to a trial in the Senate, where a two-thirds vote is required for removal from office.
