A Portland police officer has been moved to a non-public role after a video surfaced showing him making comments about the death of Renee Nicole Good.
In the video, the officer states, "Sometimes criminals get shot." Good was fatally shot by a different Portland officer in June 2024 during a reported mental health crisis. She was a suspect in a vehicle theft but was unarmed at the time of the shooting.
The Portland Police Bureau confirmed the officer's reassignment. An internal investigation is now active. The bureau stated the move was made to ensure public trust during the inquiry.
The incident has renewed community focus on police conduct and training. Good's death is already under review by a police oversight board.
