A federal judge has ruled against the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in its major antitrust lawsuit against Meta. The FTC had accused the tech giant of illegally maintaining a monopoly by purchasing its rivals, specifically WhatsApp and Instagram.
The ruling means Meta will not be forced to sell these platforms. The FTC argued that these acquisitions harmed competition and consumer choice.
The judge determined that the FTC failed to provide sufficient evidence to support its claims. This decision represents a significant legal victory for Meta, allowing it to keep its core family of apps intact.
