A construction crane fell onto a moving passenger train in northeast Thailand on Wednesday, causing it to derail. The accident killed at least 22 people and injured more than 30.
The crane was being used to build a new high-speed railway. This major infrastructure project is backed by China.
The incident occurred at around 9 a.m. in Nakhon Ratchasima province. The crane collapsed directly onto the train cars.
Local police chief Thatchapon Chinnawong confirmed the death toll. Rescue operations transported the injured to nearby hospitals.
An investigation into the cause of the crane's collapse is now underway.
