Federal officers arrested a 39-year-old man during an immigration enforcement operation in Buffalo, New York. The suspect, Saim Irgi of Turkey, is accused of struggling with the officers.
Authorities state that during the arrest, Irgi allegedly grabbed an officer's taser. He reportedly shouted "Allahu akbar," an Arabic phrase meaning "God is great," while doing so.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed that Irgi was previously known to law enforcement. He had prior assault charges and was in the country without legal permission.
The case is now proceeding through the legal system. Officials have not released further details about the incident.
