Ueli Kestenholz, an Olympic bronze medallist, has died in an avalanche. He was 50 years old. The Swiss Ski federation said the former snowboarder was trapped while riding in Switzerland on Sunday. Kestenholz won his medal in the first-ever Olympic snowboard race. He placed third in the giant slalom at the 1998 Nagano Winter Games. That event became famous for another reason. The gold medallist, Canada's Ross Rebagliati, briefly lost his title after a positive test for cannabis. He was later reinstated.
