He argues this makes it harder for police to solve crimes, ultimately endangering public safety. The lawsuit follows a fatal shooting in Minneapolis last week. A 37-year-old woman was killed by a federal agent during an immigration operation. While not directly part of the lawsuit, Ellison cited the incident as an example of the policy's consequences. In a statement, Ellison said, "The administration's policies have made us less safe." The lawsuit seeks to block certain federal immigration enforcement actions within the state. The U.S. Department of Justice has not yet commented on the case.
