China's top health official has called on Hong Kong to become a central force in promoting traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) worldwide. The request came during the launch of Hong Kong's new Chinese Medicine Hospital and testing institute on Tuesday.
National Health Commission Minister Lei Haichao advised the city to advance TCM development. He stated Hong Kong should "serve the globe for the benefit" of all.
Hong Kong's leader, John Lee, pledged to fully align local policies with China's national strategy for TCM. This positions the city as a key pillar in the country's plan to internationalize the ancient practice.
The new hospital and research facility are central to this mission. They aim to combine traditional practices with modern testing and standards.
