Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe thanked China for its support during the country's recent economic crisis. The two sides discussed ongoing Chinese-funded infrastructure projects and ways to boost economic ties. The visit highlights Sri Lanka's strategic importance in key Chinese initiatives. These include the "Belt and Road," a massive global infrastructure program. The stop is seen as an effort to reinforce Beijing's influence in the Indian Ocean region.
