A prisoner in England on a prolonged hunger strike has told a friend, "I’m dying."
Heba Muraisi, 31, is on day 71 of her protest. She is linked to Palestine Action, a group that protests against companies it says supply weapons to Israel.
Francesca Nadin visited Muraisi at HMP New Hall in Wakefield on Saturday. It was her first visit since the hunger strike began. Nadin said her friend's appearance was shocking.
"She has lost a significant amount of weight," Nadin said. "Her body is shutting down."
Muraisi is currently imprisoned. The details of her original charges are not specified in this account. Her condition is now a serious medical concern.
