Malaysia Seizes $246,000 in Drug-Laced Drinks, Dealer Faces Death
Malaysian police have confiscated drug-laced beverages worth nearly 1 million ringgit (US$246,000) and arrested one dealer, who could face the death penalty. The bust occurred last Wednesday in Kuala Lumpur. Officers arrested a 29-year-old man. At a Monday press conference, city police chief Fadil Marsus said searches of the suspect's two cars and two homes uncovered equipment for packing and processing drugs. Authorities also seized other narcotics valued at approximately 832,350 ringgit. In Malaysia, distributing certain amounts of illegal drugs is punishable by mandatory death sentencing. Police did not specify the type of drugs used in the drinks. The investigation is ongoing.
