Violent Crime Against Chinese in Japan Declines, Data Shows

Official data reveals a significant drop in violent crimes against Chinese nationals in Japan. Reported cases fell by over 21% last year, continuing a multi-year downward trend. This decline occurred despite a recent safety warning from Beijing. In March, China's embassy in Japan cautioned its citizens about an increase in telephone scams, though it did not mention a rise in physical violence. The figures, released by Japan's National Police Agency, show 101 violent crime cases against Chinese nationals. This represents a steady decrease from 126 cases the previous year and 149 cases two years prior. Experts suggest the drop may be linked to Japan's overall low crime rate and improved safety measures. The data indicates that Chinese residents face a similar risk of violent crime as the general population in Japan.
