The governor of Aleppo says security has been restored in two key neighborhoods after a military escalation.
Governor Azzam al-Gharib stated on Sunday that conditions in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh districts are steadily improving. He announced a "gradual return to stability" for the northern Syrian city.
The governor attributed the improved situation to the end of what he called the latest escalation by the SDF. The SDF, or Syrian Democratic Forces, is a U.S.-backed military alliance.
Al-Gharib made the announcement in a statement on the social media platform X. The areas mentioned have seen periodic conflict.
Aleppo was Syria's largest city before the civil war. It remains divided between government control and other armed groups.
