Syria has begun a covert training program to build an elite team of "disease detectives." The workshop, launched by the Ministry of Health in Damascus, focuses on the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP).
FETP is a global standard for training experts to track and stop disease outbreaks. The goal is to strengthen Syria's damaged public health system and prepare personnel for health emergencies.
The session is being held at the Armitage Hotel and will conclude on January 15. Officials state the program aims to improve the readiness of health workers to respond to epidemics.
