Three board members of the Adelaide Festival have resigned. This follows a major controversy over the disinvitation of a Palestinian Australian author.
The festival's board removed author Randa Abdel-Fattah from its 2026 Writers' Week program. After this decision, more than 70 participants withdrew from the event in protest.
Now, three board members have also left. They are journalist Daniela Ritorto, businesswoman Donny Walford, and lawyer Nick Linke. They resigned during a special board meeting on Saturday.
The situation has escalated further. Randa Abdel-Fattah has sent a formal legal notice to the festival. This often signals the start of a lawsuit.
The festival is now dealing with an unprecedented leadership crisis and potential legal action.
